Self-Refer for Support

A small cup of black coffee on a green saucer, resting on a purple surface. Next to it is a handwritten note on a napkin that says, 'It's ok to ask for help when you need it,' and a silver pen.

If you're finding it difficult to afford dog food or basic essentials for your dog, you can self-refer to The Good Paw Project.

Your first self-referral is simple:
Complete the form below, and we'll contact you within 48 hours to understand your situation and provide initial support - no judgement, no barriers, no complicated process.

For ongoing support beyond your first referral, we work alongside trusted local services including:

  • Your local authority

  • Recognised food banks

  • Your veterinary practice

  • Other community support organisations

This partnership approach helps us support more people while connecting you with services that can provide longer-term help in your area.

Self-Referral Support and Who it’s For

Anyone in the UK who's struggling to afford food or care for their dog (or cat) can self-refer for initial support.

You might be:

  • Between jobs or on reduced income

  • Managing unexpected expenses or rising costs

  • Dealing with a health condition that affects your ability to work

  • Facing housing challenges or family changes

  • In any situation that makes feeding your pet difficult right now

You don't need to prove anything. If you need help, that's enough.

If you need help beyond initial support, we'll work with you to arrange referrals from local services (food banks, local authority, or your vet) so you can continue receiving the help you need.

Our goal: Get you help quickly, then connect you with local services for sustainable, long-term support.

When you self-refer to The Good Paw Project, you'll receive:

Emergency Food & Essentials

  • Access to dog food (and cat food)

  • Basic supplies like bowls, leads, and bedding
