WHY WE EXIST

A brown and white long haired little dog is eating out of a silver bowl on grass

The UK is facing a crisis that no one's talking about.

Thousands of dog owners across the country are making impossible choices every day - skipping their own meals to feed their dogs, avoiding essential vet care they can't afford, or facing the heartbreak of surrendering animals they desperately want to keep.

Meanwhile, online debates rage about what's "best" to feed dogs - premium brands, raw diets, nutritional optimisation - while real dogs go hungry and real people suffer in silence, too ashamed to ask for help.

The conversation is broken. While some owners obsess over perfect nutrition, others can't afford a meal. While pet industry profits soar, families are choosing between feeding themselves and feeding their dogs.

That ends here.

The Good Paw Project exists to bridge this gap - to provide practical, judgement-free support for dogs and the people who love them, regardless of their circumstances.

How You Can Help

OUR MISSION

To create a kinder, more compassionate community where no dog goes hungry, no owner feels ashamed to ask for help, and every paw (and their person) - receives the support they deserve.

HOW WE STARTED

A woman feeding a black and brindle puppy in a rustic kitchen with wooden cabinets, a stainless-steel stove, and tiled floors.

The Good Paw Project was founded by Sally Barker, also known as The Canine Dietitian.

After years working in canine nutrition, Sally became increasingly frustrated by what she saw: endless online debates about "what's best to feed your dog", raw vs kibble, grain-free vs traditional, premium vs budget - while many owners quietly struggle to afford even basic care.

The Good Paw Project was made to fill that gap. Plenty of advice existed for those who could afford consultations and premium food, but very little practical support for owners who simply couldn't provide essentials - food, vet care, enrichment, the fundamentals every dog needs.

Sally founded The Good Paw Project to create something different: holistic pet support under one roof. A place where owners could access food banks, vet care guidance, enrichment resources, and community support - all without judgement, all in one place.

The mission is simple: create a kinder, more compassionate community and build nationwide network of support that reaches every postcode, every dog and owner who needs it - and making sure no one falls through the cracks.

OUR APPROACH

As a not-for-profit business, The Good Paw Project operates differently to traditional charities. Here's what guides everything we do:

We meet every owner and every dog with empathy. Your circumstances are your business - our job is to help.

Compassion

We work together - with local partners, supporters, and the people we help to create lasting change. This is a movement, not a top-down charity.

Community

Asking for help should never feel shameful. We've designed every interaction to protect your dignity and respect your situation.

Dignity

We want to empower owners with trusted, accessible information about caring for their dogs - always free, always judgment-free.

Education

We focus on real, tangible support that makes a difference day to day - food, vet care, enrichment, guidance. No empty gestures, just genuine help.

Practicality

We're honest about costs, funding, and where money goes. No corporate waffle, no hidden agendas - just straight talk.

Transparency

HOW WE’RE FUNDED

The Good Paw Project operates as a not-for-profit business. We're not a registered charity, which keeps things lean and lets us move fast - but we're absolutely mission-driven.

  • 100% of profits from Canine Collective memberships fund The Good Paw Project. Members get expert nutrition advice, recipes, webinars, and community support - and their membership fees directly support dogs and owners in need.

  • We sell gift boxes and products - 100% of profits go straight back into our work. Beautiful presents for dog lovers, genuine impact for those who need it.

  • Every donation, no matter the size, helps us provide food, vet support, and resources across the UK. We're transparent about exactly where your money goes.

  • We collaborate with brands, businesses, and organisations that share our values and put impact before profit.

We cover essential admin costs (like payment processing, web hosting, insurance), but everything else goes directly to supporting dogs and their people.

No shareholders. No corporate interests. Just genuine help for those who need it.
